Paranoid Humanoid

- sanjaya is love -

My new favorite word: Fanjaya.

Current music: Maroon 5 - Makes Me Wonder

- every car you chase -

Not sure if it was the last episode of American Idol that put me in the mood for the Police, but I'm really digging this song right now. And I normally hate mash-ups.

Other mash-ups that have earned the heavy-rotation status on my iPod:

  1. DJ Danger Mouse - What More Can I Say
  2. Gnarls Biggie - Can I Get With Ya Crazy Butt
  3. Oli Clifford - Bum Breath
Current music: Mika - Grace Kelly

- federal way represent! -

I had completely stayed away from American Idol this season (which isn't hard to do when you don't own a TV) but I decided to check it out tonight so I could experience the phenomenon that is Sanjaya. Even Matt voted for him last week! And all I can say is: wow, I want his hair.

If this were a singing competition (which it clearly isn't), that strange-looking midget lady would run away with it, but based solely on tonight's show, my money is on that punk/goth chick or the girl with huge hoop earrings. And can somebody please fill me in on that other Seattle boy? What's his deal?

Current music: The Cardigans - Super Extra Gravity

- chronic (what?) cles of narnia -

Useless stat from last night's SNL: Peyton Manning did the Manning Face 9 times during the monologue. (A series of quick Manning Faces in succession was counted as a single Manning Face.)

Current music: Asobi Seksu - Citrus

- nobody likes you when you're 23 -

Greg Oden is 19. Andy Milonakis is 31. Discuss.

Current music: Bomb The Bass - Bug Powder Dust (The K&D Sessions)

...but Anderson Cooper does.

Current music: James Morrison - You Give Me Something

- the downward spiral -

Apparently, Matt and I aren't the only ones hating on ESPN.com's auto-playing video. For me, though, it's the continuing decline of Page 2 that has made me stop going to the site -- I don't even have it bookmarked on my work machine.

To quote one of the commenters: "When Dan Shanoff left Page 2, so did I."

Current music: The Go! Team - The Power Is On

- i am your number one fan -

Dear Roger: We love you and all, but for the love of god and all that is holy, please shut the fuck up. Even I don't care if/when/to which team you come back no more.

And on a completely unrelated note: This might be old news for most of y'all, but I had no idea The Ambiguously Gay Duo were voiced by Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell. Whoa.

Current music: U.N.K.L.E - Unreal

- shamrocks and shenanigans -

I generally have an adverse reaction to anything St. Patrick's Day-related, but this comic strip by a co-worker made me laugh. Go have some green beer for me tomorrow -- I've got 2 more months before I can start drinking beer again.

Current music: Peter Bjorn and John - Young Folks

- march madness -

After years of resisting, I filled out my very first NCAA bracket:

  • Final Four: Ohio State over Texas, Florida over Kansas
  • Championship: Ohio State over Florida
I'm already excited about the potential Final Four match-up between Oden and Durant. I'll be cheering for Texas (Hook 'em Horns!), but I think the Buckeyes will prevail. Let the madness begin!

Current music: Amy Winehouse - Stronger Than Me

- the sun always shines on tv -

The Teenypig gals will be on Breakfast Television tomorrow morning to showcase their spring line. As always, I was put in charge of picking the music for their 6-minute mini fashion show, and I opted to go with a couple of Stars tunes: This Charming Man and Ageless Beauty.

Tune in tomorrow if you're in the area. Their segment will air around 9am.

Current music: Gwen Stefani - The Sweet Escape

- all relative to the size of your steeple -

When I first read about the Tom Brady / Bridget Moynahan offspring-to-be, my first reaction was "omg, can you imagine what that baby's gonna look like?" Well, apparently Tom Brady has one-upped himself and (allegedly) impregnated Gisele Bündchen. Jiminy Christmas -- can you imagine what *that* baby's gonna look like? I shudder to think what that kind of superior gene mixing could result in.

Current music: Kanye West - Last Call

- big brother is watching you -

I'm not much of a Boing Boing fan and Cory Doctorow is probably my least favorite of the 4 editors there. A lot of his posts are knee-jerk responses and I'm often annoyed with his tendency to relentlessly promote lame stuff that he happens to like (e.g. the painfully unfunny IT Crowd). That said, I throughly enjoyed his lecture today -- very informative and thought-provoking, if a bit rambling and paranoia-inducing.

Random note: he never took off his iPod earbuds which kinda bugged me. (I mean, they were just hanging from his neck and not in his ears, but still.) I liked his shoes though, so all is forgiven.

Current music: Mates of State - Bring It Back

- hockey night in canada -

Got to witness my beloved, Northwest Division-leading Vancouver Canucks kick some serious Tampa Bay ass tonight. Mere 12 rows from the ice, no less. This was my first NHL game ever if you can believe that. Just don't tell the Canadian Government -- it could potentially be grounds for deportation.

Oh, and that sideways hockey stick thingy? Apparently it's the old Canucks logo from the 70s. Which explains why those jerseys are everywhere in Vancouver. And I had always been baffled by the number of "Winnipeg fans" in town because, um, I thought it was the alternate Jets logo. Oops. Good thing they don't ask hockey questions in the citizenship exam.

Current music: Junior Boys - Last Exit
