Primer is easily the most incomprehensible movie I've ever seen. And not in a good way. Akira's got nothing on this one.

- i'm rick james, bitch! -

Another gem from my favorite blogger:

The latest R. Kelly single, Trapped In The Closet (Chapter 1 of 5) arrived in the mail yesterday. It's the first part of a 5-single story cycle about RKels fucking some bitch and then her man comes home and them RKels gotta jump in the closet while the bitch and her man get their hump on and then RKels cellphone goes off (and, according to the song, "I try to put it on vi-i-i-i-i-i-bra-a-a-a-a-a-a-te!") and then the man heads for the closet and RKels pulls out his gun and then the man opens the closet and--

TO BE CONTINUED!
Oh. My. God. Becky. Is R. Kelly trying to beat David Chappelle to the punch? This is funnier and more surreal than the "Piss on You" skit from Season 1.

- waiting for my build to finish -

Some random thoughts as I suffer through the wonderful software deployment process at you-know-where:

  • The only CD to achieve the "heavy rotation" status this year so far: Roller Coaster's Absolute. Yes, I do realize I'm like 3 years behind, so fuck off.
  • I'm so totally over my massive crush on a certain foul-mouthed, ill-tempered reality TV contestant. Ditto for a certain Harvard-educated, up-and-coming movie star. Well, almost.
  • My prayers have been answered: Avant = IE with tabs! (Maxthon is another IE add-on that allows tabbing.) I doubt I'd switch back from Firefox, however.

- waiting for my rocket to come -

The Good: Jason Mraz is coming to Seattle in July!
The Bad: The "cheap" tickets go for $57.
The Ugly: He's opening for Alanis Morissette. Ugh.

As much as I love the guy, I'm definitely skipping this one.

First Second* shoe purchase of the year. Me happy.

(*I was reminded I had bought a new pair of Adilettes just 5 days prior to this. Oops.)

- worst. sequel. ever. -

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence has to be the most disappointing sequel ever, anime or otherwise. The "plot" is beyond incomprehensible (even for Japanimation), and the visuals are less than impressive -- I've seen better graphics in video games!

Hand-drawn animation and CGI don't mesh well at all, and there are far too many scenes that exist only to showcase new CGI techniques. Sure, that parade scene (a 5-minute sequence that reportedly took over a year to complete) is nice to look at, but does it have *anything* to do with the rest of the movie? I didn't think so.

Also, the "autopsy" scene in the beginning bears more than a passing resemblance to the Chris Cunningham masterpiece All is Full of Love. I thought it was a bit ironic considering so much has been made of the fact that a certain Hollywood blockbuster so shamelessly copied the original.
