If you're not wearing something the kids can't afford, how will they know to look up to you?
- Samantha, Sex and the City
I nearly got peer-pressured into buying this (which was "only" $75 at Ian). Someone please bitch-slap some sense into me before I actually do it.

I've been humming that song all day long. I have no idea what it means though.

So, it'll be the Flames vs. the Lightning in the Stanley Cup Finals, which poses an interesting dilemma: who should I root for?
Of course, the Flames eliminated my beloved Canucks and I've yet to recover from that painful, double-OT game 7 loss, so it'd be pretty tough for me to wish anything nice for Calgary.
On the other hand, I suppose I should always cheer for Canadian teams. Besides, do we really want Lord Stanley to end up in (gasp) Tampa Bay? Tampa fucking Bay! I mean, do they even have ice down there? (By the way, it's *never* acceptable to cheer for someone just so you can say "hey, at least we lost out to the champs." Never. Even if there is no Yanks/BoSox-type rivalry. I'm sure Bill Simmons would agree with me on this.)
As always, I can count on Leonard for a blunt answer:
I curse those cocksucking Flames to hell. (Fuck this "cheer for Canada" bullshit -- chances are I'll cheer for Sweden or Czech Republic in the World Cup this summer.) Not just because they beat us but because of how close the series was. If Bertuzzi was in the lineup, the Flames would be pretty seasoned golfers by now. I want to see the Lightning beating the shit out of the Flames and running down their fucking goalie.

Pretty easy schedule for what will likely be my last SIFF. I kind of wanted to see Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, but it was already sold out. Oh well.
And on a somewhat related note, Oldboy won the Grand Prix at the Cannes today. Hannah saw it last November in Korea and said it's a kind of movie that I would love because "it's *so* fucked up." I don't know what that's supposed to mean but I'm hoping to catch it at this year's VIFF.

What's the big deal? It's legal now. My sister's married to a gay guy and everyone knows it.
- from The Onion
I just got invited to my very first gay wedding. Not a commitment ceremony -- a real, full-flej wedding that's legally binding and all that other good stuff. And I don't have to go all the way to Massachusetts either. I'm still unsure as to how they will handle the bachelor party (parties?), however.

If Sex and the City makes me want to smoke, The Sopranos makes me hungry. I probably should avoid watching that show with the 7 o'clock rule in effect but I can't help it. Damn it.

Roger Clemens is now 5-0 in 5 starts with a miniscule 1.95 ERA and 32 Ks in 32.1 innings. Pretty impressive for a guy who was supposedly "in the twilight of his career" back in '96, eh? Congrats on yet another Pitcher of the Month award!
