Real love amounts to withholding the truth, even when you're offered the perfect opportunity to hurt someone's feelings.

Should I find it amusing or troubling that this book is currently the #1 bestseller on Amazon.com?

- the sniffling accountant -

Jerry: It's an exclamation point! It's a line with a dot under it.
Elaine: Well, I felt a call for one.
Jerry: A call for one. You know, I thought I've heard everything. I've never heard a relationship being affected by a punctuation.

- from Seinfeld
I just got an email that had 6 exclamation points in 7 sentences. What's up with that? My rule of thumb: no more than 1 exclamation point and 1 emoticon per email -- not that I keep a count (ok, maybe I do).

Mis/overuse of punctuation marks and smiley-faces I can deal with, but we'll definitely need to have a serious talk if you ever start using "LOL" (or any variations thereof) in your emails.

An interesting essay by Rob Neyer (my favorite baseball writer) on Amazon.com customer reviews. I was a (very small) part of the (rather large) team that launched a new version of this feature a couple of months ago.

I feel your pain, Rob. I feel your pain. *smirk*
