- hold onto nothing, as fast as you can -
Exactly 1 year ago, I threw everything I own into a van and drove back to Canada. And exactly 2 years ago, I somehow managed to trick Maat into having dinner with me.
They both seemed like a good idea at the time. In retrospect, I think only one of them was.

Mom called all the way from Japan to tell me that I must stop using my Sony laptop at once since it could explode without warning! She saw it on TV and everything!
You know, she would be annoying if she wasn't so cute.

The road to the World Series almost always goes through New York. Check out the winners since 2000 (the last time the Bronx Bombers won it all):
- 2001 Diamondbacks: beat the Yankees in WS.
- 2002 Angels: beat the Yankees in ALDS.
- 2003 Marlins: beat the Yankees in WS.
- 2004 Red Sox: beat the Yankees in ALCS.
Yep, the 2005 White Sox are the only team this century to win the World Series without having to play the Yanks. Given the history, the Tigers would have to be the favorite this year, no?

- he's been twelve forever -
It's been 4 days since I saw the new Michel Gondry film, The Science of Sleep, and I still can't decide if I liked it or not. Part of me thinks that it's just recycled bits of his music videos in an incoherent mess, but another part thinks it's brilliant. It made me laugh a lot more than Miss Little Sunshine, that's for sure.
And speaking of Gondry: next time you're on a train, try listening to Star Guitar with volume cranked all the way up and look out the window. It's fucking trippy.

- how to reappear completely -
To find out what I've been up to for the past month or so, please listen to track 15 of the Jackie Brown soundtrack.
Stuff I would've blogged about (but obviously didn't):
- Elton John in Seattle: Second. Best. Birthday. Gift. Ever! (Last year's trip to the Olympic Peninsula still holds the top spot.)
- Oct 1st was my 5th blogoversary. I can't think of anything else I've kept up for that long.
- Seahawks vs. Giants: My very first NFL game was both fascinating and frightening from an anthropological standpoint. I also found out that Maat and Jason have season tickets in the same section, just 10 rows apart. How come nobody else thinks this is an amazing coincidence? Qwest Field (or, "Taxpayer Stadium" as Jeremy likes to call it) sits 67,000 people!
- The King and the Clown: Hands-down my favorite movie of the year.
- Little Miss Sunshine: Hands-down the most overrated movie of the year.
- David Sedaris is coming to Vancouver in November, but tickets have long been sold out and scalpers are now asking for $100 a pop. And I thought $40 (the original face value) was a lot of money for a book reading.
- On the other hand, you can catch Amy Sedaris at Neumo's later this month for mere five dollars.
- One of my latest assignments from Google is to look at a bunch of websites and determine whether or not they contain adult content. That's right -- I get paid to surf porn. Jealous much?
