Paranoid Humanoid

- in repair -

Yeah, I realize I haven't posted in a while. I've been busy and stuff.

So, I interviewed for my Dream Job but didn't get it. In hindsight, it wasn't that great a job (and it ain't no sour grapes neither), but I was totally blinded by their amazing perks and the location (Seattle).

It was even more disappointing because it was such a long, drawn-out process which lasted almost 4 months. Yes, *four* months. I had to go through 4 phone interviews just to be invited for an on-site interview, and after a grueling 6-hour interview loop, they decided that I wasn't good enough. Whatev. I did get a t-shirt for completing the interview loop, so I guess it wasn't a total loss.

I'll write about this experience in detail later. Maybe.

I quickly rebounded to find another job though, and it happened super fast: submit resume on Fri, get a call on Mon, interview on Tues, verbal offer on Wed, reference checks and salary negotiation on Thurs, and written offer on Fri.

I start in January. Maybe.

Other than the relative lack of perks, name recognition, and the fact that it'll keep me in Canada (or "Third-World" as Maat calls it) for the foreseeable future, I actually like this position better than the aforementioned "Dream Job." Plus, everyone there gets a Herman Miller Mirra chair. That's gotta count for something.

Anyways, with Operation Hopper complete, I can now focus on Project David Barton. Less than a month to get my fat ass back in shape before Hawaii.

- faraway, so close! -

To quote Marsellus Wallace: Nah man. I'm pretty fuckin' far from ok.

- i hate you and i hate your ass-face -

I fucking hate people who set music to autoplay on their MySpace pages. One of many reasons why I'm starting to dig Facebook more.

And speaking of Facebook, have you checked out their employee perks? 24" LCD monitors! $600/month housing subsidy if you live within one mile of the office! Free food! Makes me hate my job even more.

And David got a new cell phone because his old one "schizzed out" on him. Again. If I had a quarter for every time this happened, I'd have close to four dollars.
