- i'm not drinking any fucking merlot -

I got the last bottle of 2004 Quail's Gate Limited Release Pinot Noir available for sale in the Lower Mainland. So I'm told, anyways. Why, yes -- I do rule.

Current music: Asobi Seksu - Thursday

I just had to share this. That is all.

- c u next tuesday -

To quote an anonymous online commenter, the only thing worse than a fat, ugly dyke is a fat, ugly dyke with a mic. Fuck off, Rosie, you fucking hypocrite.

Current music: Fergie - Fergalicious

- escape from houston -

Andy Pettitte just re-signed with the Yankees, raising speculation that Clemens will soon follow suit (as he did 3 years ago when Pettitte fled to the Astros). Can you imagine a starting rotation with Chien-Ming Wang, Randy Johnson, Mike Mussina, Andy Pettitte *and* Roger Clemens? As the No. 5 starter, no less? I think I just had a tiny orgasm.

Current music: Pizzicato Five - Ma Vie, L'Ete De Vie

- you should know much better -

Halou's new single, Albatross, has just replaced another Halou track, Honeythief, as my favorite song of 2006. It's available exclusively on iTunes, but you can stream it in its entirety on their MySpace.

Also, I no longer think that the new Scissor Sisters CD "sucks ass" (as Maat so eloquently put it). I doubt it will ever make it into my heavy rotation list, but it's not as craptastic as I once thought. It still doesn't make me feel like dancin' though. (No sir, no dancin' today.)

- productively lazy -

Yesterday, I had a chance to speak with Mike Connor, the infamous Firefox Hacker. I was warned Mike would expect me to know "a fair bit about Firefox" (whatever that meant) so I spent the whole evening coming up with a list of what I do and don't like about Firefox. And of course, he didn't ask me anything about Firefox. And he wasn't as scary as I thought he was gonna be.

There are lots to love about Firefox, and they are mostly features and tricks that makes you surf the web faster and more efficiently. My favorite, which nobody seems to know or care about, is the address bar shortcuts. In IE and Firefox, you can just type a word into the address bar and hit ctrl+enter, and it automagically puts "http://www." and ".com" for you. Firefox goes one step further: you can use shift+enter for .net URLs, and ctrl+shift+enter for .org. There are no shortcuts for .ca URLs, however.

As silly as it sounds, this is my biggest source of frustration when using IE. When you surf the web for 10-15 hours a day like I do, these little things add up.

- impossible is nothing -

While screening résumés for my possible replacement, I came across one incredibly arrogant and downright obnoxious cover letter/résumé that put Aleksey Vayner to shame. Now I'm almost tempted to bring him in for an interview just to grill him.

Current music: Ray LaMontagne - Till the Sun Turns Black

- shit motherfucker fuck shit -

I have no idea why I am so affected by James Kim's death. It's just so sad.

Update: Yeah, what he said.

Current music: Ron Sexsmith - Retriever
