David refuses to partake in communion because he considers it a form of cannibalism (body of Christ, blood of Christ, blah blah blah). Like, whatever. I stopped doing communion a few weeks ago because, well, I'm not really "Christian" and I decided that it's kinda silly to do it just because everyone else is doing it.

Oh, my beloved Canucks lost out to the evil (evil!) Detroit Red Wings last night. It was almost a foregone conclusion even before the series started, but I'm still heartbroken. Oh well, at least we didn't get swept.

It's almost scary how many of the entries in the Gen X Dictionary so perfectly describe my life.

- higher learning -

Sarah, who just got into a PhD program at UVA (you go, girl!) lend me a book about applying to grad school. The first chapter lists 3 reasons *not* to go to grad school:

  1. You're going to grad school to please someone else.
  2. You're clueless about a subject to study.
  3. You're secretly trying to avoid the job market.
Ouch -- 3 out of 3.

My heart says: "Just do it!"
My brain says: "What are you, mental?"

It's clear what I should listen to. Or is it?

- dysthymia -

(+) The Canucks made it to the play-offs.
(-) They'll probably (read: definitely) lose in the 1st round.

(+) Baseball season is here.
(-) Rocket's been awful, and Cammy's no longer playing.

(+) I still have a job.
(-) I hate my job.

(+) I've made some new friends that I actually like.
(-) Still, I'd much rather be alone.

Can you believe it's already been 8 years since Kurt Cobain died?

- kids say the darndest things -

So, today at the tutoring center, Thom and Ryan are saying something about graduating from high school, yada yada yada, then Ruben (who is 10 years old) comes over and asks me:

Ruben: Did *you* graduate from high school?
Me: Um, how old do you think I am?
Ruben: 16?
I don't know if I should feel flattered or insulted...

Check out this year's Great Pine Award winners.

Oh, Jeremy claims I say "oot" instead of "out". That's a vicious lie. I so do not.
